In this chapter we present the various neuroscientific methods that have been applied to the study of translation and interpretation skills in bilingual subjects. In addition, we outline the existing evidence and present new data on functional connectivity patterns in professional translators. Finally, we offer a critical look at the possibilities and limitations of these methods for the cognitive study of interlingual reformulation processes.
