We study memory and cognition from a multilevel perspective. We are interested in the molecular mechanisms, circuits and different levels of processing of memory and other cognitive functions in the brain. At present we are focused on identifying and investigating the mechanisms of consolidation, evocation and active forgetting of memory and the brain mechanisms involved in social interaction.

We study human behavior, both normal and pathological, through dimensional and multilevel models. We explore the dynamics between mind, body and brain through the dimensions of interoception, emotional regulation and cognitive control, with the aim of developing psychopathological profiles of anxiety and depression. We are interested in understanding how external temporal dynamics, using structured natural stimuli such as narratives and music, are related to brain dynamics, evaluating their diagnostic and therapeutic potential. To do this, we apply computational modeling strategies together with classical approaches. Additionally, we use predictive models to identify the triggers of these disorders using ecological information analysis (EMA). We also investigated brain dynamics related to eating behavior and body image under the interoception paradigm.

We study the cognitive failures that occur in various neurological and psychiatric disorders with the aim of not only contributing to their evaluation and treatment, but also to the understanding of normal brain functioning. In this way we study the neuropsychological profiles of patients with neurological and psychiatric diseases, such as Parkinson's disease, Frontotemporal Dementia, Schizophrenia or Bipolar Disease to then collaborate in the description of the neural bases of diverse cognitive functions such as Memory or Social Cognition. We also seek to gain an in-depth understanding of normal and pathological language processing, both at a behavioral and cerebral level, during childhood and adult life. This knowledge will allow the development of appropriate tools for the evaluation and design of theoretically based treatments in Spanish.

We seek to understand through our studies the genetics of parkinsonisms, and the environmental exposures and lifestyle factors that impact the symptoms of PSP and parkinsonisms. We will also investigate possible genetic-environmental interactions. On the other hand, we developed batteries of cognitive studies to monitor the neurobehavioral changes of patients with PSP. In another line, we delve into the knowledge of neurobiological markers (with EEG and evoked potentials) of impulsivity. We study the epidemiology, clinical phenotypes, progression and molecular neurobiology of patients with Parkinsonism and dementia: Progressive supranuclear palsy, particularly.
